Community groups are built around First Free's Membership Covenant and are one way we encourage people to grow deep in the grace of the gospel.

As a church we are called to bring each other to maturity in Christ. There are a number of ways that spiritual growth happens, but we think groups are a primary way we can all grow in Christ-likeness. The number of "one another" commands in Scripture prove that the Christian life wasn't meant to be lived alone. We need each other for encouraging one another, exhorting one another, praying for one another, loving one another, confessing sins to one another, showing hospitality to one another, and the list goes on. The community group becomes a place where many of these commands can be lived out.

Groups are also a place where the gospel can grow deep in us. This happens as we build one another up with the Word through sermon-based discussion; encourage one another in the faith through committed community; and pray for one another, the church, and the world. And as the gospel grows deep, that serves as a catalyst for gospel-witness. We then partner with one another in going wide with the gospel through acts of compassion, evangelism, and missions.
