Prepare the Way

August 21, 2016 Preacher: Josh Black Series: Luke: Certainty of the Truth, Part 1

Passage: Luke 3:1–20

Sermon Questions
- How has God used the humbling or hard things in your life to bring you to repentance?

- How has God used other people in your life to point you to Jesus? What is something you could do this week to point someone else to Christ?

- “Real repentance requires a change in your inward attitude and your outward actions.” Why do you think this is such an unpopular message today?

- How would you encourage and challenge someone who shared with you that they knew they were a Christian because they “came down front” after a service or prayed with a friend or family member years previously?

- What fruits of repentance are highlighted in John the Baptist’s interaction with the crowds recorded in chapter 3? What are some other fruits of repentance you’ve experienced in your own life or seen in those around you?

- John Newton’s conversion is dramatic and some might say exciting, but how would you respond to someone who thinks their conversion is boring or isn’t worth telling?

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see.
