Summer looks a little different for elementary, student, and adult classes on Sunday mornings. Check out the options below to plan how your family might engage in our summer classes.
The registration deadline for the children's and family classes was May 28. New registrations at this point will be put on a waiting list and we will let you know if there is space.
Hebrews: The Supremacy of Christ, cont.
Room B3 | Teacher: Dick High
Rise early, join in our opening time of fellowship and prayer, and then participate in our interactive time of study of the New Testament book of Hebrews. Throughout our study we will encounter affirmations of the supremacy of Christ, the only one who deserves to hold the primary place in our lives. We’ll also consider the admonitions to not grow weak or weary in our faith. (This class is continuing their study from the spring.)
Exploring Missions (June only)
Shine! Room 202 | Registration required
This class is for current K–4th graders whose parents are attending a class or serving in a Sunday morning ministry in June.
This interactive class will explore ways God’s people obediently share the Good News of Jesus. Each week will feature a missionary who faithfully served in the past using their unique gifts and skills. Children will also be introduced to current First Free mission partners who serve now in similar locations or use similar skills to accomplish the task of spreading the knowledge of God’s glory to the ends of the earth. The hope of such exposure is that God would begin to shape our children’s thinking and hearts towards being his servants.
Welcome to the World of Missions! (June only)
This June it’s all about Missions! Middle school students through adults are invited to join us as we look at missions from several angles! Through the four weeks we’ll revisit the past through the stories of famous missionaries, hear from various mission partners, invite our own Missions Committee to share about their role at First Free, and end the month with an overview of our mission partners with an opportunity to encourage them by writing notes and praying for them.
God Always Wins Family Class (July only)
Room A6 | Registration required
Join us in July for an interactive, exciting class designed for parents and their children to enjoy together. Is God greater than armies? Is he greater than all other gods? Is God more powerful than Satan, death, and sin? These, among other topics, will be explored in the curriculum, God Always Wins. The class will involve teaching, crafts, activities, and small groups. Curriculum and activities will be geared for elementary-aged children, but preschoolers are welcome at their parents’ discretion.
Room B3 | Teachers: Mike Andrus, Tim Buhler and others
While most of Paul’s letters address issues arising from within the church, Peter’s first epistle deals mainly with those arising from the culture in which the church exists. He writes to churches during the dawning of persecution, urging them to stand firm in the grace of God in an age of pluralism and intolerance. Please join us as we consider how to stand firm in the culture in which we live today!
The Reformation Continues
Room B4 | Leaders: Cary Lavender, Pat Moyer, Paul Lindstrom
This class will be watching the fourth video in the Ligonier series on church history, The Reformation Continues, covering the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Topics to be discussed include Scholastic Theology, The Puritans, The Enlightenment, John Wesley and George Whitfield, The Great Awakening, and Jonathan Edwards. It is taught by Dr. Robert Godfrey, president of Westminster Seminary California.
Read Through the Bible
Room B10 | Leaders: David and Julie Sutton
In this ongoing class we encourage you to read through the Bible in a year using a chronological reading plan. On Sundays we discuss the weekly readings and pray for one another in light of what we have read. New students are welcome at any time!
Room of Grace
Room A5 | Teachers: Dave Netherton and others
Room of Grace is a multi-generational class whose purpose is to encourage each other in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this through the study of God’s Word, praying for one another, and sharing what God is doing in our lives. New students are welcome at any time!
Six Things That Are Important to the Lord (June only)
Room B3 | Teacher: Doug Schaible
Join us as we discuss six ideas or issues that are important to the Lord and how a proper understanding of these ideas from God’s perspective will be the basis for spiritual maturity.
2 Thessalonians (July only)
Room B3 | Teacher: Gary Wickham
The global message of Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians is that amid suffering, believers must remember the sovereign grace that has rescued them in Jesus Christ. Join us as we look at the themes of endurance through suffering and the eternal scope of divine grace.
Room B4 | Leader: Roy Baker
This class will be going through an in-depth study of the Letter to the Hebrews. (This class is continuing their study from the spring.)
The Pilgrim’s Progress
This class has been moved to the fall block.
Nursery and preschool classes will meet as usual through the summer.
Our regular elementary and student 9:00 classes and our 10:45 Kindergarten class will not meet through August 5.
