Summer Classes 2017

Sunday mornings at First Free look a little different in the summer. We have a great team of volunteer teachers that are with our kids and students each week throughout the school year and we want to give them a break and the opportunity to take a class and be equipped as they serve the rest of the year.

June 4-25

Adults and students can pick from the classes below and we have a special missions class for elementary kids whose parents are taking a class or serving in a morning ministry.

Please note:
Nursery and preschool classes will meet as usual in June, no new registration required.
Our regular elementary and student 9:00 classes and our 10:45 Kindergarten class will not meet through August 6.

Exploring Missions (for current K-4th grades)

Entering the Harvest, Prepared
Room of Grace: Missions Focus
Jesus with Dirty Feet: A Look at Christian Principles and Evangelism
God’s Big Picture (meets through July 30)

Read through the Bible Class

July 2 - One Service at 10 am

To kick off July, we’ll all join together for one worship service on the 2nd that includes babies, toddlers, all the way up through senior adults—one worship service for the entire church family!

Please note:
There will be no nursery or preschool classes this morning.

July 9 - August 6

We intentionally scale back our programming for the month of July. Consider coming for one of the services, and then take advantage of that extra time without classes to grab breakfast or lunch with others you’d like to get to know better, or consider serving together in our nursery or preschool classes. Think about how you might build relationships and develop true community!

Please note:
Nursery will be available both services.
Preschool will have classes during the 9:00 service.
There will be no elementary or student classes.

The following adult classes will continue meeting through August 6:

God’s Big Picture (meets through July 30)
9:00 am | Room B3 | Class Leaders: Steve Nave and Wes Penner
This class will take an overview look at scripture with the main source material being the book God’s Big Picture by Vaughan Roberts. We will see how the different parts of the Bible fit together under the theme of the kingdom of God, and see how the Bible’s supreme subject, Jesus Christ, and the salvation God offers through him is embedded throughout the storyline of scripture.

Survey of Church History, Part 3 A.D. 1500-1620 (meets through August 6)
9:00 am | Room B4 | Class Leader: Paul Lindstrom
This class will survey the period of the Reformation using the Ligonier Ministries' Church History DVD series taught by W. Robert Godfrey.

Psalms of David, cont. (meets through August 6)
7:45 am | Room B3 | Class Leader: Dennis Finley
Who was David? Shepherd, warrior, poet, musician, king? Was he also a prayer warrior with all those psalms? We will survey his wonderful writings as we look at some of David’s psalms.

Read through the Bible Class, cont. (meets through August 6)
10:45 am | Room B10 | Class Leaders: Dave Sutton
This class encourages you to read through the Bible in a year. They use a chronological reading plan and meet on Sundays to discuss the readings and pray for one another in light of it. New students can join at any time.

Room of Grace (July 9 - August 6)
9:00 am | Room A3 | Class Leader: Dave Netherton
The Room of Grace is a multi-generational class whose purpose is to encourage each other in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this through the study of God’s Word, praying for one another, and sharing what God is doing in our lives. Anyone is welcome in this highly interactive class.
