Frail Faith, Strong Savior

January 18, 2015 Preacher: Josh Black Series: Mark: Who Do You Say That I Am?

Passage: Mark 9:14–9:29

Sermon Questions
 - Read Mark 9:14-19. After all Jesus has said and done, how is it possible that people are still “faithless?”
 - Read Mark 9:20-27. Is the miracle in this story a result of the strength of his father’s faith or the object of his faith? How does your answer inform your view of salvation? Pastor Josh said the father in the story had frail faith in a strong Savior. How does that encourage/challenge your faith?
- Read Mark 9:28-29. Pastor Josh said prayer is simply faith turned to God. What does your prayer life look like? What does that say about your faith? Eugene Peterson says, “Prayer is the language of the people who are in trouble and know it, and who believe or hope that God can get them out.” How might this perspective change your practice of prayer?
